Mr. French’s Second Grade English Class

                    MR. FRENCH'S GRADE 4 (A1) ENGLISH CLASS    ______________ _________________________________________ Mr. French's 2021-2022 Fall Semester Recap  The Grade Four (A1) class has studied well this first semester! Their behavior has also been very good. Together we have had a productive learning time. The students have really been a joy to teach! The area of greatest overall improvement I have seen this semester is in the students’ writing proficiency. They show better grammar and vocabulary usage which includes correctly using punctuation marks and forming compound sentences. The Pearson Reading Street materials have been very useful and instructive, teaching English Language Arts according to the U.S. Common Core goals. I’ve been very pleased with the textbook and workbook exercises. For most weeks during the past semester, I have chosen a Student of the Week. These winners have shown good behavior, study habits, academic progress, and/or helpful attitudes. They

Students should take home all their books for the Winter break. A1 CLASS Today students reviewed some basic grammar for writing sentences. They also received back all their writing books with corrections made in them. HOMEROOM & EXPERIENCE CLASS Today students had a chance to show their public speaking skills.  They spoke on topics such as;  1. What they learned during this semester 2. What was the most fun during this semester 3. They also put their puzzle-solving skills to the test interpreting a classic puzzle  from  the old TV game show, Concentration. The students have worked hard this semester and are winding down toward the Chinese New Year. SCIENCE CLASS *Students learned a little about zoo animals when we read from the "Skill Sharpeners" textbook. We also played "Password" with the "animals" theme. A1 CLASS *Students learned more Space News today; comets hitting the Earth like the recent one over Pittsburgh, PA.
