MR. FRENCH'S GRADE 4 (A1) ENGLISH CLASS
_______________________________________________________The Grade Four (A1) class has studied well this first semester! Their behavior has also been very good. Together we have had a productive learning time. The students have really been a joy to teach!
The area of greatest overall improvement I have seen this semester is in the students’ writing proficiency. They show better grammar and vocabulary usage which includes correctly using punctuation marks and forming compound sentences.
The Pearson Reading Street materials have been very useful and instructive, teaching English Language Arts according to the U.S. Common Core goals. I’ve been very pleased with the textbook and workbook exercises.
What’s next? In the Second Semester, I look forward to teaching the students to write complete paragraphs. This is an important step towards essay writing which every student needs to learn well.
We'll also be reading more Stories and learning new Vocabulary.
The 2021-2022 School Year will finish this coming June with a grand event: the Student of the Year Award! This award was inspired by one of the stories our class recently read, “Coyote School News”. In the story, the teacher, Ms. Byers, awards one lucky student a silver dollar at the end of the year. In this tradition, I will do the same this coming June. So, stay tuned as we look forward to another semester of English learning and awards!
See you next semester!
